About Me
I am a contemporary printmaker based in Hampshire, England, specialising non-toxic etching. My practice centres on a traditional, slow approach to making, combining careful craftsmanship with respect for the natural environment.
I work primarily with aluminium plates etched using copper sulphate, an environmentally safer alternative to traditional acids. This process allows me to create prints that are richly tonal, layered, and painterly, with a strong emphasis on atmosphere and mark-making. Drawing is at the heart of my work, and my prints often retain the expressive quality of the original drawn line.
Landscape,
Wildlife, and Folk Influence
My subject matter is rooted in landscape and wildlife, with a subtle influence of British folk history. I draw constant inspiration from the UK’s landscapes, flora, and fauna, exploring the relationship between place, memory, and the natural world.
Spending time outdoors is essential to my creative process. I regularly walk, run, and hike, often with my lovely dog Skyla, observing seasonal changes and the quieter details of the landscape. I've usually got a sketchbook close at hand to observe the environment, drawing directly from life to inform my studio practice. This close observation gives my work a sense of authenticity and connection to place.
A Slow, Traditional Printmaking Practice
My printmaking process is intentionally slow and hands-on. Each print develops over time through drawing, etching, inking, and hand printing. I value traditional skills and materials, and I see printmaking as a thoughtful, physical process that rewards patience and attention.
Environmental responsibility is integral to my work. I am a strong advocate for conservation, the protection of wild spaces, and environmental awareness, and I aim to reflect these values through the materials and methods I use as well as through my subject matter.
Original
Handmade Prints
My work is created for people who appreciate craftsmanship, slow-made art, and original prints. Each piece is produced in small editions and printed by hand, making every print unique. My collectors are
often nature lovers, landscape enthusiasts, and environmentally aware buyers who value authenticity, skill, and a strong sense of place.
If you are looking to buy original contemporary printmaking inspired by the British landscape, my work offers a thoughtful and tactile connection to the natural world.
