From the Printmaker's Bestiary
In British folklore, the Badger is a fierce creature who symbolises protection, surrounded by the hawthorn bush used to offer the same. Hanging from the leaves is a pendant found now in Winchester City Museum. It is thought to represent the god Woden, Anglo-Saxon warriors would pray to him for strength and protection.
This image was made using non-toxic copper-sulphate etching onto an aluminium plate. The plate was hand inked and printed on a traditional etching press. It is printed on soft, white somerset paper.
It is one of an edition of 50, all handprinted. Each print is signed, numbered, and titled by the artist. Please note, your print will not be the same edition number as the photo.
The image itself is 15 x 15 cm. Each print is packed with cellophane and archival tissue, has a board backing, is carefully wrapped and posted flat in a stiff cardboard envelope.
