About

Hi, I'm Fiona, I'm a printmaker and illustrator with a particular passion for etching. I graduated with a BA (hons) in Fine Art from Lancaster University way back in the 90's then got my MA Illustration from Falmouth in 2022. I specialise in a non-toxic form of etching which uses a copper sulphate solution on aluminium plates.

My inspiration is drawn directly from the world around me, from the countryside and open spaces, flora and fauna, with a little bit of an anthropological twist. As a regular runner and dog walker I like to immerse my self in wild places. My method of etching onto aluminium tries to capture the soft tonal differences in the layers light and texture.  I live in Hampshire and I love the rural rolling hills and the coastline around Hampshire/West Sussex boarder.  I regularly visit wilder corners of the country like Pembrokeshire and Cumbria which seep into my work. I am also a sucker a snowscape so my sketchbooks come with me on all my travels.
